    Recently got mine here:

EGR Blanking Kit - all TD5

Will put it on over the summer but looks fine and not expensive. It is a little different than the photo shows having a lip on the tube to hold the turbo hose not the straight pipe as shown.

Just how much restriction can an open butterfly offer?

My main reason for contemplating the blanking kit, is to try to improve economy, by giving the engine more oxygen and less exhaust to breath.

I don't know under what conditions the butterfly closes, but it's fully open in it's "relaxed" state, so I can just blank off the vacuum inlets to leave it open.

    Hey all,
    New post, old thread.
A quick search has shown up the terrafirma kits still being available. Has anyone else recently acquired one from elsewhere?
Also, once installed, does one simply pull the plug to the sensor?
    Thanks,
    JR

    I removed everything.
Two vacuum solenoids near fuel cooler, egr cooler and connected the pipe from reservoir to oil cooler.
Checking though and you can blank that off, preferably at the oil cooler, as it isn't needed.
I think it was a terrafirma kit I used.
I needed to extend the intercooler hose though, it was fittable but not great, got some exhaust tip and made an in line extension. When I had that off recently i ran a bead of weld as it blew off a few times.

Use crc for a few days before trying to remove anything from the exhaust manifold, otherwise its not going to be fun if the bolt heads round Just spay it heaps and let it soak with a cold engine.
I had heaps of trouble with mine as I only sprayed it once contrary to being told to do it for a few days.

    Lesson learned the hard way.

Just to note you may get error codes in your ECU which mention that the EGR valve is open/closed. To my knowledge it can just be ignored.

In the end I replaced the butterfly inlet with an open aftermarket one. In answer to my question about how much restriction an own butterfly valve can offer, I reckon it's now got double the area it had. I also removed the exhaust gas cooler and all the solenoids. Now I can easily access the front of the engine to replace a fan belt of remove the fan, plus there is a lot less congestion in the engine bay. Fuel economy improves by about 10%. There was a small modification needed to route the cooler pipes, but the smaller house slid into the larger from memory and sealed well, no issues nearly five years later.
