    aircon playing games

    Hi guys,
My 2000 d2 v8 manual has some air con probs, when i turn the air on nothing happens on any setting until the fan is on the highest setting, on that setting it works perfectly, cold air everything, turn fan down and nothing comes out, when i turn the system of you can feel the air come out cold, turn system on and the cold air goes out again.
It has got me stumped, checked all fuses.
Has anyone ever had this happen or know what the prob may be.

    Thanks,
    Jason.

Sounds like the resistors controlling fan speed have failed.

its not just the fan speed, no cold air comes out until the fan speed is on its max setting, if i leave the a/c on and turn off the and turn off the control unit cold air comes out, you can feel the difference when you put your hand over the vents and turn the unit on and off.

Thanks Andrew thats great, i checked it and it came up with 00 faults, but then i got a really strong electrical burning smell, shut the car down and had a look. The fan blower motor has 2 things melted out of opposite sides, so i guess thats my problem.
Thanks for the help everyone that replied,
    Jason.
