What is the best way to check the shaft? I give it a twist both ways and in and out and can't detect any movement is that all I do? Cheers Matt

Yes. If you hold the either side of the double cardan and twist in opposite directions you'll see obvious movement in the uni's if they are on the way out. If you can't detect movement you should be fine.

I've been checking on a pretty regular basis and there was a barely noticeable play in the joint in late december and there is now obvious slop.

    cheers

I might replace the UJ with the Hardies version I did that in my last td5 when I had the shaft out to do the diff 80,000 Km later it's still going strong. Any tips on where to get a new ball bit in the middle? I didn't change that last time.
