AMV Electric CDL Actuator or Ashcroft Factory CDL

There's an american mob who have made a pneumatic actuator, looks the goods and the only reason I'd buy it is 1. if I didn't have access to the parts myself. 2. The dollar being good enought to justify $400- us.

All I need to know, if anyone can tell me is, what it the length of the actuator arm on the tfr spiggot? (spigiott centre to cable hole centre) and is this arm/lever the same for both the early linkage type and later cable type actuators.

If it's the same then I have access to a couple to duplicate and I just need to know the amoount of rotation required so I can adjust the lever length to suit the actuator length. Should be able to put together a kit of actuator, hoses and switch and mounts/levers for less than $200- but hopefully get it down to around $150- or so incl postage. Only condition is you need at least a compressor (which needs to be on to activate) or a resevoir.

Am installing the CDL purchased from T62 (a couple of posts ago), just $330 delivered to my doorstep in 2 weeks. This is a very well made unit.

BUT

I cannot get the spigot on the transfer case to move, I can see the cdl cable trying to turn it, but it is not moving. Do these things need loosening up a bit if not moved for say 11 years?

Now what I want to do is put a spanner on the spigot to free it up, but am a bit nervous about breaking something.

Are there any rules for when I can or cannot try to engage the CDL, when I want to try and free it up?

It should move pretty easily. mine had never been used until last week and moved without issue. It's a 12mm, theres only 1 pair of flats to get an open ender on it.

I had no trouble moving the spigot on my TC and mine probably had not been used for 11 years, use an open ended spanner and see if you can move it, I thought it was 10mm but I might be wrong. The spigot only turns approx 90 deg.

Definitely 10mm A/F. It should turn easy.

Got under the disco with a 10 mm spanner, spigot turned easily.

After much head scratching and some more research, I discovered that the diff is locked by pushing the hi-low handle away from you not towards!

A bit of rerigging and all is now good, my diff lock works like a dream.

Well done mate, it is amazing the difference when off road.

Thanks for the link. My AMV unit failed last week so I ordered this linkage overnight from Jay. $330 to my door. Would cost me $180 to replace the motor on the AMV unit so happy to pay the extra to have the reassurance of a mechanical linkage.

I had the AMV unit fitted in mid'08 before going to Fraser Island. It was replaced 3 months later under warranty. It's lasted 2.5yrs this time round. I believe the motor or spider gear is broken as the electrics are still clicking away.
