Interesting question. I will add another point. When we lift the vehicle 2" (for example), do we need enlarge the swaybar arms (arms/brackets ?) the same amount of inches ?
Is there a way to maximise the front end flex with the front sway bar fitted?
Is sway bar disconects the best option or is there a better way?

Not for a 2", although im not certain about ACE vehicles.
I just run without them and the car drives fine IMHO.
Sway bar disconnects work but the only one i have seen for the disco front end only allows you to disconnect one end of the sway bar and it leaves it down in the original position.
However when i go upto the 5" lift i will be fitting Currie Anti-rock sway bars. They are big in the Jeeps scene as well as your dedicated race buggies e.g. King of the Hammers rigs. They allow the car to flex at slow speed but are rigid at high speed kind of like a gel shock. They dont make bolt in kits for landies but do sell a universal kit that requires some fabrication. If it works in KOH its gonna work in the landy i figure :P

The description is interesting and they bot up to the chassis when disconnected so they are out of the way. Sounds like they are allright. However I was wondering if it is possible to maximise flex with the sway bars connected.
I have just purchased my D2 and completed a 4500 km trip in three days. The front sway bar has been removed an althought the handling is Ok it does get nervous a t speed and since this is going to be a long distance tourer as well as the play truck I want the best of both worlds. I think the handling needs improving for highway stuff but I want that flex for offroad If it has to be sway bar disconects so be it. The Disco is sporting a lift of around 3-4 inches with Bilstien shocks so it is up there. Please bring on your eperiences. Does anyone know what Slunnie and Tombie run on there D2's, with or without?
I've probably got between a 3 and 4" lift on and I run the swaybar disconnect on one side. Its makes a big, big difference to flex. Also with it off even when going over normal bumpy rocks the ride is a lot better as it is more "floppy"
They are easy enough to use at the start and the end of the day. You get used to finding a bit of level ground at the end of the day to get it back on easily (or get someone to push down/pull up slightly to line everything up)

I have attached a couple of photos. I made a bracket for the top where it attaches to the sway bar and needed to enlarge the holes to a 9/16th bolt at the axle. You will also notice that i've had to 'notch' the pan hard rod mounting arm to allow for the ACE Ram to clear it on downtravel. This was just a trial fit as i will be going to rose joints instead of bushings soon to minimise the strain on the bolts at full flex. I think they are the standard height JK links. I have the receipt somewhere at home and will try to find it for part #'s.

4runnernomore I also run the swaybar disconnects from slickrock (expedition exchange) ones, I run one only on the passenger side it makes a huge difference to flex but be warned with only running one side disconnected you cannot bolt to chassis as still needs movement for other side. I just simply cable tie to swaybar when disconnected. Its a bit fiddly to put back on but if ground is level then its fine.
If it were me I'd split cost with another aulro member and just install one side. well worth the money.
