TD5 Head Gasket

Well I might be finding out first hand this week.

My head was machined 6 thou and steel dowels fitted 10k ago and I am now losing coolant.
Thoughts at this stage are crack around an inlet valve/ port. Have done all the usual checks and have no pressure in the header tank so its not on the compression side. Motor runs sweet all the time though has an occasional rough start after its been hot.
Exhaust manifold has been off and all exhaust ports and valves are clean with no indications( works boroscope is an awesome tool)
Couldnt wind my way through the inlet without getting the camera dirty so manifold off on thursday.

I will let you know what I find.

Thats not too bad. Where is that from?

I paid $675ish inc gst from Land Rover.

for:

Head gasket ($154.74 + gst)
set of bolts ($272.76 + gst)
injector o rings and copper washers ($95 + gst

)
inlet and exhasut gaskets ($87.30 + gst)
steel dowels ($3.62 + gst)
another gastet ($6.21 + gst)

Forgive me for going off the thread content, but had the pleasure of hitching a ride in an Army Pilatus Porter S.T.O.L. aircraft whilst serving in Darwin- a most amazing experience!
