Firstly, welcome to the forum and the Landy family.
I'm new to the LR thing also having bought a 1999 Td5 recently.
From my research on here and on the interweb I was able to deduce some of the following:
* there is nothing that beats having a very close read of the logbooks and seeing what has been done over the years and by whom,
* the more electrickery that the vehicle has ie. power seats and maybe in the ES sunroof/s, the more gremlins that might visit from time to time - and some of these problems can be expensive to fix (it's just dawned on me that the term I should be using here is probably "exxy" but I'm okay with typing the extra few letters needed in this instance) ("electrickery" should be a word though)
* 205k is about right for the model year - again, the service history (which Range Rov might be able to supply from their records system) will be telling as to what has been done or missed)
* I don't recall seeing mention of it in the ad so you'll need to see under the bonnet to find out if it's got ACE. This is a fantastic addition to the Disco 2. If it has this you'll know by the 2 x filler caps on the passenger side of the engine bay - 1 will be power steering fluid the other the ACE system filler.
* SLS/Airbag suspension is sought after by some and removed by others as it could be problematic when/if it failed/got tired. I'm sure some D2 owners with SLS will be along at some point to add to this.
All in all though it looks to be in primo condition and if I'd seen that vehicle 3 months ago I'd have been very interested in the report that came back from the inspection.
If it all checks out you'll have nabbed yourself a bargain I'd say.
There's a bloke in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne who is highly regarded when it comes to pre-purchase inspections. Sorry I can't recall his name right now. Someone else may be able to assist, ie. a non-Queenslander!
Have you taken the vehicle for a drive yet?
