Hi All
Looking for some help with the start of my 2000 Td5.
Brand new CAT battery, Traxide battery isolator, connections all good, turn the key, wait for glow plugs, turn to ignition ... nothing! (except the sound of the fuel pump) Not even the "ticking" noise from the starter motor that is common. Try again ... nothing, try for the 3rd time and she fires up ???
Any ideas? Could the cold mornings in Sydney have anything to do with it?
Thanks
Craig
Gunna put a refurbished starter motor in tomorrow ... fingers crossed.
Craig
check for leaking Fuel pressure regulator, even a small leak finds its way down to the starter solenoid causing your symptoms.
cheers

Check your ignition barrel first Craig, these can cause what you describe.
Baz.

Had Peter from Roving Mechanical replace the starter motor with one of his refurbished models today ... hopefully this will solve the issue. If not ... I got some more ideas thanks to you 3.
Cheers

... Peter also replaced my front prop shaft with a greasable unit ... before I have any issues! Especially as I'm off to Lake Eyre in September with the CT in tow.
Hi Craig
How did you go with the starter?
I know when my starter went the first time, there was no audible warning - just dead. So I started carrying a big shifter in the car to whack it with till I replaced it...
Cheers

Yes quite a few I have come across don't even 'click' from the solenoid when faulty.
