Great to hear 2ROCKS is back on the road and mobile again!
My rear door has this exact same problem too, just started.
The external opening latch sticks in the "open" or "up" position, but only sometimes.
Usually when I most need to get something in or out of the back!!

Was quite amusing trying to get the dog out over the back seats the other day, then realised I should have folded them flat first....!!

Watching for advice with interest......

If you have free windscreen policy, just get it replaced, say it leaks. By the way Obrien guarantee any repairs for the life of the vehicle (so it says on their receipt). I had a replacement windscreen, which leaked on the drivers side. Got it replaced by Obrien for under warranty, they said the curvature on the first windscreen wasnt correct. Real happy with the repair and now I can't hear wind and no more drips of water coming in.

With regards the latches, I found my bonnet and drivers side door handles started getting tight. I just cleaned everything out well and re'lubed it. Works good again.

Yes, good to be going again, I just have to track down a cheap spare tyre and I'll be happy

ffdisco2 that's interesting O'Brien's guarantee the repair for the life of the vehicle...yes I get a free 'screen per year, so I may have to ring them and see if they've still got it on their system.

As to lock, yes I think I'll need to pull the tailgate interior trim off and have a look from that direction

Secondly, after being idle for some time 2ROCKS has developed the dreaded "sticky tailgate latch disease". I have rectified so far by removing the green oval on the tailgate handle and liberally spraying with silicon lube but initally had to "fish" the tailgate interior door lever open with a coathanger through the cargo barrier - much to my 7 year old's amusement

Is there a permanent fix for this? Or do I need to replace the latch/servo unit? The problem seems to be the lever in the plastic number plate light/door latch trim, rather than the latch...?

I would change the rear door handle first mine cost around $60 from the dealer, I did it the other way round & changed the latch first $220 & then found the problem was the door handle.

the handle is easy to change, just take the trim off & then its one clip & a couple of bolts

"Fixed" mine today Mike.
Didn't remove a thing, just liberal coats of WD40 from outside, up and under the latch on the circular springs, and the latch is now working better than ever. Just full of crud and dirt.
Oh yeah, I took the dog out FIRST this time...!!!

Save yourself the hassle of taking all the door innards off and give it a good clean out with Gods own magic liquid spray first.....

Water can run down the windscreen, then under the lower cowling, and straight into the heater air inlet. This is about 30 cm from the edge of the windscreen on the passenger side. You may be able to stick your fingers up underneath the cowling to see if there is dampness in the box. There should be a piece of foam inside it that will be dripping wet if this is the problem.

This is the most likely scenario so it's not technically a faulty windscreen. It's just a pathetically stupid design fault that Landrover unbelievably gets away with. I crudely sorted this issue myself by removing the cowling and attaching a strip of black builders plastic using adhesive silicone. I attached it to the underside of the cowling higher up than the heater air inlet. The water will then run down the plastic and run away rather than going down the heater inlet.

The better stuff to use as a cleaner/lube is "INOX", will not go sticky over time , it's what the locksmith used who fixed my wafers in the ignition, he advised never use WD40 on the locks/latches..
