super simple(though pad change still not as easy as the D1)
you may need an impact hammer to remove the screw(throw it away there are 5 wheel nuts holding the disc on)
Hi all, my front rotors and pads need to be changed before the next trip away and thinking if an upgrade is required? I spend most of my driving on highways rather than city and when I tow my triallers are heavy (yes they have brakes) and would like good stopping power. Should I go slotted/vented? Better pads?...remember I'm only doing the front at this stage.
Also I've not done brakes on the D2 before so if there are issues in doing them please let me know, avoiding a cry of help later!

DBA 4000 slotted rotors and Bendix 4x4 pads. I tried EBC green stuff and they are crap.
no fade at all.
I drilled out the screw and put in a new one.
Shop around for the rotors. I ended up ordering them from supercheap.
Cheers
Matt
Wow super cheap?....do you mind me asking how much?.....currently looking at $300 for

I'd have to disagree with the green stuff being crap. Only time I've had an issue is when they aren't run in correctly.
They are vented as std, got slotted but not cross drilled, though you can get dimpled these days which is ok as there are no through holes to propagate cracks from. EBC ceramic pads if you want to avoid dust.
Either green or ceramic (reds) get it up to speed and absolutely stop on it, repeat 2-3 times. Drive around to cool slowly, repeat. All good. Been getting 60,000K + from them in anything I've used them in.
Karcraft at Silverwater got me the Bearmach slotted, drilled rotors from the UK. These came cadium plated for rust prevention and I suppose looks. To these I added Bendix 4WD pads. Very easy job to replace for front and rear, about an hour. Admittedly I am getting a trade price but parts for front and rear all up was only $520 for the lot. Stopping power is awesome over standard. Pedal pressure seems less for better stopping, no fade at all downhills with a caravan. Virtually no brake dust but this mainly due to the Bendix pads. Thoroughly recommend this combo.
wow gold plated rotors,,
any chance of a pic??![]()

UK places like Rimmer Bros and DLS are the place to go, even US LR parts suppliers, although the price is pretty close to UK.

There are different EBC green pads.
The 6000 series are crap
The 2000 series were awesome, but are no longer available.
I now use dba slotted and Bendix 4WD pads which are good, but not as good as the no longer available EBC 2000 pads.
The biggest difference from my experience comes from the pads, not the rotors.
