I would not worry about getting it serviced as the cost would be more than it's worth. Just put it in and test it. If it's faulty see if it can be swapped. There are no real serviceable parts.
As for the code you will need that. It should have come with it. A good Dismantler should have got it from the manual and wrote it on it if it had one. I don't no how you would go about finding one though.
