    Water pump let go and now I'm stuck at a servo

    I started up the 2000 D2 V8 at work and heard a funny knocking noise that lasted a couple of seconds and then stopped, I got about 1klm down the road and it started again so I pulled over popped the bonnet and noticed the fan wobbling, shut the d2 off and gave it a wobble, there was a couple of drops of water leaking from the pump, thought I would be ok to get it home, only about 5klm, I started the car and it stalled, thought it was me so I went to restart and there was nothing just a funny burning smell.
    How much damage do u think i have done and is it a easy fix

    You still got water in the reservoir tank, or is it dry? I'm assuming you checked it before taking off again. Question is, was the couple of drops from the fan the first couple of drops, or the last couple!

    I hired a trailer from the servo thus morning and trailered the disco home, pulled the pump off and assessed the damage, serpentine belt is chewed out the blades on the water pump have taken a bit of a chunk out of the timing case as well, took a preice out of the fan and the shroud as well.
    Yes Pinelli there was still water in the reseswor, I only lost about 200ml or so on the floor.
