If you cant turn the key its the sticky wafer problem. Flicking/tapping the key will get it rotating and that will confirm its the wafers as the flick/tap drops them into place.
Locksmith refurb of the wafers or new barrel (D1 and rekey it, see quoted threads).

I agree, if the lock is sticking and the key will not turn it is the shims (wafers) that have worn. When mine failed (on holidays - as always) had to leave the key in the ignition at all times, until I could get back home. I called a locksmith who removed the shims and never had a problem since (2 years).

Having had the original ignition barrel fail completely and costing me $300 to get a mobile locksmith to fix it and get me going, and paying $110 for a D1 lock to be keyed up the second time it failed, on reflection the option of just having the wafers removed completely is the way to go for those who are yet to have the problem appear.
cheap and permanent and only really allows someone to disable the steering lock should they be trying to steal it.
but how would they know!
So when it happens to you (it will) and you manage to turn the key after flicking/tapping it,
leave the key in (get a blank spare cut if you havent already got one and use this one), then get locksmith to remove wafers at first opportunity and you will never have the problem again.
