I squirt some graphite powder into the barrel when mine plays up. I've been getting away with that for a while now but for how much longer is anybody's guess.
Cheers,
Anthony.
Anyone have issues with this?
Takes a few pokes with the key before it will turn lately. SWMBO got stuck for 40 minutes the other day and I just got stuck again....

I grabbed a can of Würth HHS2000 from one of my mechanics and sprayed it in there. Think it may not be the barrel so much as the steering lock not releasing therefore not allowing the barrel to turn.
Problem on the weekend was no amount of turning the wheel would release the lock.
Just having a look at it now I'm home and it releases on turning the wheel now.
Key blade is covered in black oil now so assuming its been a bit dry in there.
A good soak in Inox, a hard shot of compressed air and try and flush it out a bit I think.

Have a look under "Technical Forums" then "Projects and Tutorials", "Discovery 2 ignition replacement"
I completed a tutorial for replacing the barrel. Easy to do and well worth the small amount of time and fairly minor cost.
Cheers Chris
Hi Guys
have a look at your key, it may have a slight twist . I put mine in a vice and got it straighter , but it ain't perfect, but seems to work better.

Hello LOVEMYRANGIE
A good few blasts of graphite powder stopped all sticking problems with mine.
Cheers,
Jason
Maybe some graphite to soak up the HHS....
Mine seems to be more of a problem with the lockpin than the key or barrel itself as when Simone got stuck on Saturday, there was no click when the pin releases from the steering shaft, however I believe the ball at the front of the barrel has something to do with the release mechanism once the key is inserted so maybe this also could be true.
Ironically my 93 Classic still has the same barrel and key from factory and never ever had a problem with it or does it look like I'm likely to. Still tight as a drum and much better than the D2's....![]()
