There is what appears (to me anyway) large gaps around the doors when closed, so I assume the noise is coming from there. I do have roof bars on, with shovel attached, both of which stay on 90% of the time, and I'm aware these attract significant noise issues, but this issue occurs even with them removed.

The rear door is also letting in water from the top seal, and I experience pools of water in the rear boot space following a downpour when left standing. There are water marks on the back of the casing for the high level bake light.

All seals look intact and not in too bad condition.
Is there a way to check that door alignment is where it should be, or/and a method for adjusting if possible?

I'll take a photo next week of my gap tolerances on some of my doors for you. I don't know if they are commonly huge on some panels and not-so-huge on others. I thought it was a LR thing. And actually, now that I think of it, also a Toyota thing...I had a shocker of a bonnet on a new V8 ute last year. It was hard to believe that it had passed QC.

I'll watch this thread with interest as my Disco 2 is somewhat misaligned and would like to hear what might be possible re adjustments.

I have had the same issue with the rear passenger door. I investigated and found it was a bit of loose trim / weatherstrip. I can't remember exactly but I'll have a look at the disco when I get home and let you know. I just had to push it back into place and it was sweet.

The pillar/post/finishing trim to the rear side of the door (attached to outer bodywork, another stupid bit of useless black plastic!) HAS come loose and broken away from the clip at it's lowest point - but surely it can't be JUST that making all that noise?

My rear door was leaking recently so I readjusted it on the hinges, there wasn't a lot of play but I haven't had any leaks since. I put mine down to when it was repaired at the panel beaters and assumed they fitted it wrong. When adjusting I would recommend having two people to make it easier. I have read that others have inserted more rubber into the collapsed seal around door to fill up the gap.

Kieren, had exactly this symptom on mine too. The insulating stripping that the window runs up and down in, had slipped/dropped down on the back edge of the window, leaving a 3 inch length from the top corner of the door frame where the window was not settled in anything when closed. It just slides back up inside the frame.
