Harlie, we keep our records for life on the PC, but the paperwork side of things (repair orders etc) we only have to keep for 10yrs, they come in handy to look things up.
Having 2 keys replaced would normally also mean that the RF receiver was replaced because it did not pick up these keys as there was a service action for this many years ago.
If the locksmith says around 300Mhz then that is answered
The nanocom will program up the keys without a barcode tag that comes with a brand new key, if it goes to a dealer then we need that barcode because our system will not let us program it without it.
There is a thread on Aulro that details how to program the key with nanocom, was very interested, it's good to know it can be done.
Some locksmiths can program the key also!
    All the best
    Cheers

When the car was about 7-8 yrs old I asked about something that was done in the first year, They told me then that they don't have access to records over 6 years. That was South Side Land Rover when they were at Woolloongabba. Now that could be policy of SSLR (Owned by Eagers who also owns Austral LR - the only 2 LR dealers in the Brisbane area) or it could be that the guy was just too bloody lazy! The service and technical knowledge at both these centers was absolutely appalling (VW side is as well!) and none of the 3 LRs we own have seen a dealer since about that time.

Yep...Hope you get it sorted Harlie....I was petrified about losing/damaging my only key. Thanks to Kev and Pete and a bit of running around by yours truly all is good...

As I've said before ebay uk is generally cheaper for LR key fobs, although I'm not sure if they had the 315mhz over there...Another thread in the making I guess

Thanks all for advice and support.

Given the pickle that we would have been in if we didn’t have a spare on the day mentioned (23ft boat in the water, car locked in public ramp carpark 300km from home – good situation to be in), I’ve decided to get a replacement straight away.

All the 2nd hand keys I found are 433 so I’m going to bite the bullet and get a new one. We will be dropping in to British Off Road on the way home, they have 315mhz in stock for $250 – nowhere as good as iPoms pricing but just over half the dealers…
    Thanks Guys.

You're welcome Harlie...I was on a tight budget and over $200 for a new fob was out of my reach as I was also buying a heap of other things for the Disco. But still, at $250 for a fob it's half the price of one from the dealers...and you have that peace of mind that you now have a working spare....Good result...

I'm wondering if one of these would work.

At that price, I might get one and find out.
