Question VIN Check For Replacement Key Fob

I need to get a new key fob as the Disco only had one when I bought it and I'm wondering if anyone on here can do a VIN check to determine what frequency I need???
    Vehicle is a 2001 D2 TD5

I've done a little research on this subject but I'm stumped (Stupid maybe) by the XA and YA VIN check as my VIN has none of these...

    Kind regards Dave

We don't bother checking VIN's on LR system anymore because a lot of the early vehicles had issues with remotes, the problem is if a vehicle has had a change the previous owner of the vehicle never recorded it anywhere & it may say it is a 315MHz which in fact now may be a 433MHz because of the change. When programming remotes we normally have both frequencies on hand & the one that doesn't program up goes back into spare parts.

Not long ago I had a new key (purchased from the UK) cut at a local locksmith on the southside and he had a device which scanned the key and was able to tell you what frequency your key was. Very simple. The device was about the size of a mobile phone. Millennium Locks - 24 Hour Locksmith Brisbane - Key Cutting, Security Locks, Car Locksmith, Car Keys & Transponder Keys

Thanks everyone for your valued input on this somewhat bizarre predicament.

So even though Kev has very kindly checked my VIN on Microcat and according to that data my key fob is 433 Mhz frequency, I could still be unsure of my frequency...I think I'll take a punt on Kev's answer.....

I suppose it's just another day in the trials and tribulation of Land Rover ownership

    Fingers crossed
The other way is to remove roof lining & remove RF receiver & see if it written on the underside of it...But be careful of fibreglass
    Cheers Guys.

If MC says it's 433 I'd be very surprised if if turned out to be 315 ... that's just not going to happen imho. However ...

If MC said it was 315 ... I'd be punting 50/50 each way on it being a crap shoot !

Dave seeing your the new owner, do you know the previous history of the vehicle? Was the owner a city dweller or country folk, this can also determine if the RF receiver was changed due to block out!
Kev, if the owner was a city dweller I'll take bets on the change of RF unit

Ahh the joys of playing these wonderful creatures...
