    Very clean unit...

Hows the service history? Contact the old owner if you can and see why they sold it!

The 18's - I have a set of 16's with 265-75-16s that would last a few more thousand KMs that we could negotiate

All depends on what you want to use it for? If your looking for a great off roader then going to cost you $$$$ to set up the cdl if there's no internals in the transfer. But if you just want a tow vehicle or on road tourer then it looks very comfy!

We just purchased a d2a last month for $21,000. 2003 td5 auto, with a few accessories on it and only 135k's. Full service history and by the looks of it a very cautious previous owner.

Probably get them down a few thousand! And would be worth it

Assuming its mechanically sound seems a reasonable price. I paid a little more for one with a few less ks on it. Can you get a full inspection done?
Does it have the CDL internals?

I doesnt have cdl internals for sure, its a 06/01 built to comfirm this.
It does have FSH but local garages it seems no LR specialist.
It may be intereted in the 16's.
I do want in for off road so I would like cdl.
You can buy a cdl trans box for $850 sh but guaranteed.
Seems sluggish to drive but only had a D2 V8 to compare.

lol, first thing i noticed too. Mind you it will happen to every disco and many other cars soon or later anyway and you can use that when negotiating price. Retrim will cost you about $300 or $150 if you remove the headliner yourself.

No CDL is definitely a downside, but the interior does look nice and it looks like it's fully opted which is pretty rare.

It's probably easier to add the CDL in than it is to add all the luxury features. So really it comes down to do you want/need the luxuries?
It would be handier/easier to find a D2a in a high spec model and then you'd get the lot, but they don't come up that often and are snapped up fast.

The 18" wheels aren't bad, I run a set of 32" tyres on mine (3" larger than factory tyres and gives the same sidewall height as a set of 16" with standard tyre size) - I like them as they are wider than most of the 16" and the larger metal center means less roll/flex for better handling on the road.

Sucks about the SLS, personally I'm a fan of it.

I have never seen a disco 1 or 2 with a perfect original headlining..
Fully optioned with no sunroofs thank god!
It has a self dimming & compass in the rear view mirrior
Elect and heated front seats, all which i didnt know existed in discos.

Good point twr7 easier to add cdl than all the luxuries.
The rear ac makes the biggest impression on me which I dont think was available in the more basis models?
