    YATQ-yet another tyre question

Its time for some new tyres for my TD5 D2 (r16) and I'm having a hard time deciding on what size/brand to get. I don't have a open wallet so under $250 a tyre is my budget. My car is a daily and I travel 75 hwy ks 5 days a week, and like to get out in bush on the weekends.

So far its narrowed down to Maxxis 762 Bighorns or General Grabber AT2's

As for size its a hard decision 245x75 or 235x85. I'm not a Sunday style driver so I thinking the 235s may sap a fair bit of GO. I'm just after some opinions or even suggestions about my tyre choice.

    Cheers

My 265/70/16's are quite good, Silverstones brand by Brisgestone but a cheaper version. Cost me $180 fully fitted and balanced at my work place.

Also look at Kumho KL71 Tyres.

They work out quiet cheap but the mud tyres are directional.

I will be using them as my daily tyres, not that the D2 does many km's anymore.

I had silverstones on the D2 when I got it, 778 highways and they lasted about 25000k's on about 6mm tread. Run them into the ground. For a road tyre they were fantastic even when slick. Their 117 sport and extreme look the goods if they're the right price (anyone?)

The Kuhmos are about $80-90 cheaper than the maxxis but get a correspondingly shorter life according to the few dealers I asked. They are quite resistant to chipping and other shoulder rounding wear apparently.

The 71"s and now the silverstones are my consideration for my next off road set. Coopers don't get a look in and BFG's and Maxxis are hard to justify the costs especially when you need 5 or 6.
