Anyone have a reliable source of 2001 D2 CDL Linkage Shifters (transfer case: 41D)? I've called everyone in Melbourne area, and the two guys who had one, wouldn't let it go without the transfer case... For $1000.
Even the previously mentioned locations in this thread have either moved on to D3, or decided to not engage in coherent site searching/purchasing. I've moved on to calling mechanics for quotes cause one said he can get them, but he's yet to give me a price. (Though he only started looking Thursday.) I'm not even sure he'll give it to me either. Probably charge me to fit it too.. Though at this point, as long as it's factory, and not an open back (Ashcroft etc which has been quoted $700 to my door) I don't care, lol.
I have just been through this and it is a pain in neck, don't ring a landy wrecker, they all sell the lever and t/case together. I found a 04 d2 at a main stream wreckers that generally only stock mainstream cars not many 4x4 and commercials, they didn't know its story or worth. They sold me the lever, the bracket for the cable and linkage the cable attaches too off the t/case too for $100.
Other thing is gumtree and facebook pages, find people wrecking ones on there, that's how we found one for a mate, cost him 250 though.
Goodluck, just keep looking one will turn up...
I now have the gearbox attachment if anyone needs a copy with the exact dimesions. If they might consider making there own.
I intend to make a basic CDL engagement with a choke/lawn mower throttle cable or the like. There is no need for it to be part of the Hi/Lo lever. I just want to avoid having to lie on my back under the vehicle while trying to locate the nut with a 10mm spanner.
Happy Days.
The d2 cable versus the d1 rod being quieter is a bit of a long bow....i know what LR said about it, but i wonder if it was just cheaper. I have driven a few d1's and they are not quieter through the console area than a d2 without cdl or a d2a.. I used a simple push pull t handled cable on the trans tunnel...cheap, simple, looks fine in black with a black boot, easy to activate Cdl, reliable (reliable!), quiet, sealed and RELIABLE versus solenoids. Sometimes simple is best.
Cheers
I agree Joel. I posted before i read your last post.
Cheers
Mine came with it already fitted.... Usually I don't have that kind of luck...Go figure...
