If you have space (and I assume you do being in Thora), then why not keep the whole car & use parts as needed. Do the engine swap to start with then work out what you need to swap over after the car is up & running again.


That's what I do at least & I find one cannot have enough spare cars when running a fleet consisting of Morris Minors & Range Rovers .

I'd swap the SLABS ECU. You'll get ETC that actually works correctly with the CDL locked. While you could use the existing ECU you either get disabled ETC or ETC that is overly aggressive (wire cut mod) with the locked CDL.

That's my normal way of doing it. But for various reasons this time I am not able to. I may get away with leaving the chassis here & all the running gear. I will strip out the body completely anyhow. I will sell of, scrap, or give away what I won't be able to use & the rest I will store.

I am very interested to know what upgrades are possible & what are recommended.

Yep I will do that one straight up.

Would it be worth the effort to install the low k transmission/transfer case with the new engine? If I could remove as a whole assembly it would be easy, but the only reasonable way to do that I would guess is to remove the body (not doing that, only on the wreck)??

I like how aggressive it is when you retro the CDL. great for rock hoping. Less wheel spin. Still works well in sand but you can turn it off off you want to. Cheers

Funny you should say that. I was going to make the comment that there is a strong correlation between people who run the wire cut mod, and those who feel that ETC needs to be disabled in sand. I wonder why that is?
