The manual covers all rhd export markets, not just Australia.
I believe the hi/lo is a warning that the t/c is in neutral. Some markets had a interlock which prevented the key being removed if the TC was in neutral.

It looks like I am worrying about nothing.
I also found a link a few minutes ago to a couple of videos on this site which confirms your observations. So why the light is listed the owners manual, who knows.

The light wasn't on my D2a either.
I had 3 D2's over the years all bought new,and the last one,a D2a was by far the best one.
The two earlier one's had a good few warranty issues,but the D2a had none.in fact it was one of the best vehicles i have ever owned.![]()
