    Engine cover

Mine has been off for a couple of years now. The captive nut collapsed and I used one of those "U" shaped thingny bobs that take a self tapper for a while. The thingny bob is still sitting on the bracket. Yes it is slightly noiser [it is a diesel for heavens sake] however, the engine now has more air flow over the top and yes it runs slightly cooler.

Mines been off for a few years too. Took it off to find a vibration and left it off. Not much in extra noise that I have noticed.

Took the pesky cover off last night prior to my 280km return weekly shopping trip to town.
    Definitely quieter.

    Now is apparently running cooler???

    About 92c +/- 5degC before, depending on hills, now 85c +/-5degC. with 12degC ambient.

Can't remember where the sensor is, maybe it's getting more air over it?

    Terry
