I paid $45 for a new rubber button, imagine what they'd have charged me for new microswitch!

When I bought my D2 the keys were in a similar sorry state.
I don't understand how people can drive a vehicle with a key that is taped together and take the risk of getting stuck at the most inconvenient time.
I bought replacement bodies for $20 off Ebay. Complete body with buttons, micro switches, blade and a battery.
The local TV repair shop replaced the micro switches on one of the circuit boards. When it came to paying, he said there was no charge.
With my lack of soldering ability i didn't want to risk it myself.
I ordered one from the UK that was here within the week and one from HK. The one from HK didn't arrive for a month so the seller sent me another one. Then both turned up. So I have a spare one, if any on the Gold Coast want it they can have it.
