    POWER UPGRADE??!!

    i have 2003 TD5 2a 5 speed. I'm a weekend warrior and spend alot of time on sand/beaches in the vehicle.

    I'm after a little more power. which direction can you point me in, to get more power from my Td5. Chip? Exhaust? more boost from turbo?

    Any help is appreciated!! thanks

    There is not one single post that covers all the aspects and from what I have gleaned, if you want to find the amount of power increase you need the order of attack is,

    1. Adjust the waste gate until just short of overboost cutout.
    2. Upgrade your intercooler from D2 to D2a if you have an early model.
    3. Chip upgrade. (egt gauge req'd now)
    4. Further I/C upgrade to help lower EGT/ raise power
    5. Upgrade turbo
    6. Fit Chevy Big block!

    All of the above place extra strains on components downstream of the air filter!

    Thanks Al... Im going to check things out.
    Especially option 6

    Mine is a 2a. has the facelift. Can i upgrade the chip with out too much hassle and how do i get the program

    Welcome. For remapping your ECU, get a Nanocom, then talk to Jose at TD5Inside. Details of both are available on this site, or call for specific help if you can't find them. Trolling around the D2a section for a month before you do anything will be your best investment ever.
