This is on my to do list as well. I have a spare sagged head lining from a wreck I had. I'll do it to that one then swap it over when done.

How did you go removing the glue, what did you use. What sort of material did you use and what did you glue it down with. Waiting for the after shot.
    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Once you peel off the old headlining use a wire brush to remove all the old foam. it's very sticky!. Once the board is clean of all the old foam, it stays sticky from the old glue. Then Spray on 3M High Strength Adhesive. Let it tack off for a minute then start the covering do one half first and go from the middle outwards like wallpapering. Then the second half. Then the edges and let it dry overnight before you start cutting the holes.

Material is Automotive Headlining foam backed 4mm

I found this on another forum. They stripped the lining and painted the base and I thought come up pretty good and never have to worry about sagging again. How to remove and paint a headliner from a D2 - Land Rover Forums - Land Rover Enthusiast Forum
Just thought it might be of some interest too. Great work BTW redoing yours. I'm lucky mine is'nt sagged yet but I suppose its only a matter of time.

    Thanks for the compliment!

Thats in interesting repair. Certainly would avoid future sagging. The material I used was much thicker foam than standard making the roof feel softer and perhaps limit noise maybe?. The nice padded fabric keeps that luxury feel.

Though I think I'd rather do as you've done Rob, Definately looks and feels nicer and keeps the originality of it but just thought that thread was interesting way of getting around it and especially just painting the fibreglass I think they said the base was didnt look too bad. Contrasted well with their trim color too I thought.

The dark colour does look good. I wonder without fabric would the fibreglass headlining board move and vibrate too.
