Thread: SRS light on panel stays on

Check the connectors beneath the front seats. The yellow coded 1s. They have a problem if you push stuff under the seat or just vibration. The light tells you there is a SRS malfunction somewhere and a loose connecter will do that.

X 2 the under seat connectors.

I moved my passenger seat last week and snagged the wiring just enough to throw the warning light on. Wriggled the connector and hooked up the wiring and all is fine now.

How long should you disconnect the battery for? Or is it unnecessary?

Mines been on for years.

Have jiggled and cleaned with contact cleaner the wires under the seatand the one in the glove box too. It has not worked for me.

I was told once by a guy at the servo that it could be because a sensor near the bull bar it dirty.

D2 Steel ARB Non Winch

I have not yet been able to find this sensor..

Any tips?

To the best of my knowledge there is no sensor near the bar, which is why you can't find it. The main sensor pack is on top of the transmission tunnel under the centre console.

The D2 does not use a 'crush" sensor on the chassis. The deployment is via an accelerometer sensor located(I think) on the transmission tunnel . Some1 more in the know may be able to tell us? The connector fault can be very hard to fix it seems, even resulting in the soldering together of the wires on occasion . just do not use an Ohm meter on them in your fault finding! KAPOOF!!!

If the connections under the seat are fine then it is likely rotary coupling behind the steering wheel.
Sometimes accompanied by a failed horn, stereo or cruise control button also.

It may be time to plug a nanocom or similar diagnostic tool in to diagnose further. It will tell you exactly where the issue is.

Could be wrong but I do seem to recall that when permanent faults are logged that the light will stay on till cleared, even after the issue was resolved, whereas an intermittent fault will allow the light to go off when you next start the car.
