    fitting a snorkel

My TD5 does not have a snorkel fitted.
Do they make any difference to performance and is it hard to fit?

That depends, planning on submerging the air intake any time soon?
If you're doing lots of water work, a snorkel is a pretty essential extra.
If you're doing lots of dusty work, when combined with a pre cleaner type head I'm sure they provide benefits.
    Hard to fit?
I had mine fitted, but that's because I'm too much of a chicken to go slicing into the panels on mine
It's a pretty simple job, quite a few very good tutorials on here you should check out if you're interested.

    snorkel

No not planning on going swimming but on second thoughts it may wash some of the oil off the underside!
I am not planning any serious off road work as I have my J20 for that.
I bought it as a nice comfortable hi way traveler that also has the ability to tow gear on occasion.
I was wondering if the snorkel would give a hand in ramming cold air to the turbo?

    Re the ram air effect.
If you believe the promotion material? Yes. Yes it will.
    In reality? Not really no.
And a J20 is cheating, it's not offroading if you're flying above it
Assuming this is the J20 you're talking about

    snorkel fitting

I bought a snorkel from ebay, fitted really well, it was a n easy fit, just follow the template, its a no brainer really, i dont subcribe to the ram theory but i reckon mine ran a bit better with having cooler air from high up as opposed to air under the guard, seems to keep air cleaner cleaner

    Cheers

It will certainly be a bit cleaner, if you put a donaldson type pre cleaner it will be cleaner still. If memory serves, they do run a fraction cooler, but I'd have to find the nanocom recordings to double check
Either way, it's a handy piece of kit.

No It's not but I would be happy to do a swap.
