    04 TD5 running rough

    Hi all,
I'm just new to this site and need a bit of advice. 3 days ago my husband changed the rotor filter, oil filter and oil on my disco and also did the air filter.

Today I drove to town (20k's) with no dramas but on the way home she stated running really rough. I pulled up turned the ignition off and restarted it. She sounded fine so kept going but a few k's along started again. Still drivable but sounded like i'd dropped a cylinder or something. The temp guage didn't move so i nursed her home.

When i inspected the engine i noticed a small hose on top of the air intake hose?? that had a clamp on it but wasn't attached to anything. It looks like it has broken off maybe. My dad who also has a disco said it could be the injectors but i just don't know what i should do about it and my husband works away.

Could I nurse it back into town or should i leave it and get someone out to check it out.

I hope someone might be able to help. Thanks

Sounded like the old "oil in the injector harness trick" at first. Safe to drive, but runs rough and feels just like you say - dropped a cylinder, and sometimes can be hard to start.

I don't recall where that little hose is supposed to go, so that may also have something to do with it.

You should have some more replies soon.

Oh, and welcome aboard. Sorry about the circumstances.

Hi, Yes if there is a hose off it will cause it to run rough. If it is the small hose it is probably the turbo modulator connection. Is easy to break/ not reconnect after a service. You should be able to push it back onto the fitting, after removing any remaining broken piece on the fitting. I attach a pic for your assistance. all hoses have to be connected up otherwise the computer gets all flustered!!
    Cheers

Thanks for the picture. That is the hose i was referring to. It looks like it is broken. It is still connected on the top like in the picture but I'm not sure where it goes to?? Would this be what is causing it to run the way it is or could it also be oil in the injectors?

Is it still safe for me to drive it without this hose connected or will it damage the turbo? Thanks for your help

Hi, It will not damage the turbo, just make the vehicle miss and carry on because the engine control computer is getting false readings. The hose goes over the back of the air cleaner to turbo pipe onto the top of the controller ( a squarish little box ) Another piccy to help you.

    Cheers
