    SRS warning light coming on

Mine woke up with the red SRS light in Canberra this morning. I had already checked all fluids the night before (all was good), whenI could pull over today I checked them all again (no change) and all brake function, steering etc seemed normal so I made the call to continue on (I did in fact try turning the car off then on again but not for long enough I think). I refuelled in Wangaratta and after that stop the light went away.
Perhaps it was a little optimistic on my part but that srs light is always the last one to go off after startup on my car, (2001 v8 disco) and I am of the impression it is to do with that today but I might drop in to Bendigo mazda tomorrow and see if they still have doohickeys to talk to it and check. There is no lights on now that shouldnt be there.

SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) light alone is an Air Bag related fault.

Common causes are an overloaded glovebox
    - the connector for the passenger airbag is accessible from the glovebox and can be knocked causing a fault.
    - the connectors for the sealbelt pretensioners located under the passenger and drivers seats. They are yellow. unplug and replug.

The SRS fault light will only show when there is an active fault. No light = no fault.

    cheers

This is what RAVE says in regard to working on the SRS:

WARNING: Always disconnect both battery leads
before beginning work on the SRS system.
Disconnect the negative battery lead first. Never
    reverse connect the battery.
    and

    Remove
    1. Remove the key from the starter switch.
Disconnect both battery leads, negative lead
first. Wait ten minutes before starting work.
I'd apply the same procedure to unplugging leads, just to be safe.

Most likely be the 2 yellow plugs under the seat, I had an ongoing issue with this & found dust was a big issue.

Also the gold terminals lose tension, small pick & bend the contacts together again & all was well.

    Cheers

I've seen the rotary coupling under the steering wheel go bad too. If you know someone with a hawkeye or nanocom, you can probably get the codes read to help pin point the error.

If Mazda don't have the laptop thingo. Try Briggs automotive, pretty sure mine has been on the computer there.
