I just fitted allisport intercooler, as advised by Pete Bell prior to fitting VNT, my egt is at least 50 ° less at 100 kmh up my test hill. Solved my high EGT issues, probably wont need the VNT now.
Tho it goes a lot harder now and can still get over 700°, but if I stay around 100kmh no dramas.

    Def get intercooler before VNT

    td5 vgt

I fitted a vnt technics turbo to my td5 90 with intercooler upgrade and stage 2 remap I've done almost 50th kms 20 of that touring oz towing a light camper trailer I have found the power Good but has a noticeable surge as the turbo does its thing from one set of vains to the other which some days makes me wish I'd left it standard. Towing I get from 13.5 l/100 to 16l/100 pending on conditions. Through the Simpson crossing 16.5 and empty I get between 10 and 11 I'm running 255/85s and when I say empty I have a front bar hydraulic winch 40l water tank and fridge. Also I can't handle doing 90km/h to save a couple of bucks. Apologies for my poor/lack of punctuation.

Turbo doesn't have multiple sets of vanes.
The surge will be the mapping changes or the vanes have a sticking spot possibly due to soot build up.

    Is the surge around 2200-2500rpm?

    Hello
Check your boost pressure. You didn't mention if you had a boost box fitted or not. If one fitted which one is it ?

Another point.. Where is the actuator plumbed to?

Follow the hose from the actuator and see if it attaches to the turbo pipe directly or to a small modulator.

    Let us know.

    Ok.

So you wired a boost box at the Ecu.
Unbolted old turbo and then bolted new one on.

Did you then just push the actuator hose on?

If you are running a stock map you'll feel the transition too.. A VNT map has a lot more down low..
