Are you refering to the tune being done prior to the VNT?

According to BAS the VNT can be fitted onto a stock standard TD5 and will apparently still run fine and give improved performance.

I'd be surprised if a remap smoothed this out but am willing to try. it does brow a little smoke
down low in the rev so figured it was get enough fuel also my mileage and EGtS are good don't need one of these remaps that sends temps sky rocketing soon as you put it foot do down. Could you expand on the modulator bypas for me please. Anyone in Sydney with a vnt want to do a comparison mine is the only one I've driven my feeling is the actuator isn't working properly or this is as smooth as it gets.

Well the misleading component is that you are posting this thread in the D2 forum

So when you take off, you get some acceleration, followed by a "peak" or "rush" of power? I'm guessing around 2250-2500 rpm is that correct?

Theres 2 distinct maps that cross over around this point....

You can check vane actuator operation using a bike pump into the turbo pipe end of the actuator hose - this will show if the actuator is moving under boost (as it should).

Wouldnt hurt to get a tool connected up and get some readings of the MAF, AAP sensors etc...

Sorry bout the wrong post location I'll give that pump idea a go and gguess a remap the acceleration is as you say smooth up till the surge it changes the exhaust note to a much deeper pitch at I guess about the 2ish mark but the acceleration rate isn't like a power band after the surge maybe surge is the wrong word it's almost like the old chip type tune on my 130 when you flick the switch on and get a little kick then flick it straight Off clear as mud I'm sure and yes I have two fender sucker for punishment. Anyway zombie you do these remaps for bas is this correct you want to give this one a crack only thing is I like my EGtS pretty close to as they are could hold my flat biky up the longest hill and not worry about it. Auto correct spell check zombie ment Tombie of course funny given the topic. I have nanocom but am no wize at it what's best way to do this.

I have just done a vnt install (there's a thread on it from a month ago). My installer missed the modulator bypass but now all fixed.

My disco is a 2004 manual and I have a Bruce Davis remap. Now goes like a train and is a completely different vehicle at takeoff. I don't get the big surge anymore, its just relatively smooth all the way.

If you want to do a comparo, pm me.
