    Question TD5 ACCELERATOR POTENTIOMETER

    Roverphiles,

I have symptoms , not me the car, which read like the accelerator potentiometer (3 channel late model).

Does any one know if the part can be tested or the land rover part number?

I still can't get microcat to work, so will rebuild an old PC with XP, but that's another story.

    Thanks

    MS

Thanks Justinc, I was aware of the Rimmer listed assembly. I would like to get just the electrical component if posssible.

Do you know if there is a test for this device, maybe with or without TestBook?

You should be able to monitor the voltages of the tracks with a diagnostic tool. The Nanocom allows you to do this.

    Talking

    Readers,

I have found a similar part on the web, forom the US for V8 engines.

Does anyone have the LR part no. for the TD5 accelerator potentiometer? The part is a Bosch item and has a Bosch id number, does anyone have the Bosch part no. for the TD5 item, please?

    Sorry temporarily no Microcat!

While on the M subject, I am thinking of upgrading my Windows 7 to Pro or Ultimate which both have an XP mode which is supposed to run Microcat. Does anyone know if there is a difference in the 32 bit or 64 bit version of windows & for this purpose?

    Thanks

    Michael.

The potentiometer is part of the pedal assembly. It's not available separately from LR. Can't help with the Bosch part no.

The V8 pedal appears to have three wires, the Td5 pedal has 7 wires. From the description in RAVE it sounds like the V8 uses a single track potentiometer.

    cheers

Good luck. I haven't managed to set up Microcat on my 2 year old Windows 7 64 bit (even using mturri's virtual computer tutorial option), but I believe the later models can do it a bit better. If it doesn't work out on my next model, I'll be having an old laptop and printer set up just for Microcat.

Assuming you still have an install disc for XP:

    1. Go to https://www.virtualbox.org and download a copy
    2. Create a virtual machine for XP
    2.and.a.bit Install windozzzzzzzz.
    3. Install Microcat (don't forget the extra bits from the Read Me folder)

    cheers

    OffTrack,

Thanks I have read that the later models use a three channel device so the 7 wires observation makes sense.

    I'll keep trying.
