My ali made one cost around $300
    200 for the fabrication
100 for the sight glass ...so i can see what level.

    standard cap fitting aswell.
I ve had no problems since fitting it, after going thru a number of the plastic ones.

I have to say, why would a genuine one split? or any for that matter, the screw in thing, ought to relieve the pressure. Or is there a sudden huge over pressure? if so, why?

Crap plastic and manufacturing m8. The original part lasted many years but heat still killed them in the end. New ones are rubbish generally. Cheers

The ONLY part of my cooling system I haven't yet had to replace is the expansion tank.
I have replaced the radiator, water pump, all the hoses, the fan hub, thermostat and the expansion tank cap, The expansion tank is still original as far as I know.
I must have got "Lucky" with my tank

I got it made by a JNT performance at Albion Pk NSW.
I needed to supply them an old one so they could replicate it the same to fit.
    They do custom ali fabrications.

The sight glass they wont do, thats upto you to find a suitable item, then tell them what thread is required to match the screw in sight glass, or better still, give them the sight glass so they can match a thread for it.
