This mob has a branch in Ashburton. Not sure if they are open however.
Not much to look out for, but it's worth getting terminal grease to protect the connections.

LP, make sure hubby undoes the negative terminal first. That way when he undoes the positive terminal and hits the end of the spanner on something metal there will be no sparks (unless he hits the negative terminal). Put the negative terminal on last when re-installing.
Have your radio security code handy to re-enable the radio.

Thanks for the replies. I received a call back from RACV an hour or so later to say he had received a call back from the warehouse and was able to get the battery I was after. Yay! So i'm hoping a little later on this afternoon I will have a new battery.
I did have to make a quick trip to the shops though with the 4 lilnuts and it started. Once all were bundled in and thinking the extra 15 minute drive the super dooper loooong way would be ok for restarting to go back home turned into another RACV call out (just to get home)!.
Second RACV rep - bloody brilliant! I had the alternator / starter checked over with the amp meter and it came back at 14.08amps (acceptable). The amp meter on the battery end of things another story. From memory that reading was around 0.208 or something with the car on and running! So absolutely in this instance a dead and useless battery that all the charging in the world will do diddly squat - past its life now.
@offtrack thanks for the post, I came across that link in my travels and Ashburton to Frankston is a bit out of my way plus it's the same battery that Battery World sell who are located in Frankston. Fingers crossed RACV happens today otherwise it will be a quick trip for hubby to battery world in the morning to get that one before we leave. I hope I don't get let down.
@Gaudough, thanks for that tip. Just need to find the code!!
Cheers,
Lp

Hi All,
RACV came out and I have a new 1000CCA battery, starts like a rocket LOL!
Thanks to everyone who contributed and helped out. Also... I didn't need a code to re-enable the radio ... I did mention it to him and he said he would earth it so that it wouldn't wipe it out. No idea what he did, but I still have the radio working/settings.
Just one question, because the battery is a different size, the earth that is located at the back of the battery (in-between the fuses / battery cover), he didn't screw that back up because he wasn't able to get the bracket lined up and screwed in over the top of the battery if it was etc .... obviously it's earthed elsewhere, is this a problem?
Cheers,
Lp

Yes!
That is the main body earth, yes it is also earthed elsewhere, but as all batteries the earth as close to the battery as possible will create issues with ECU's.
See if someone can make an extension from a piece of copper/steel if available.
Cheers
