im thinking time to change the trans fluid. It looked a little more brownish than red when i checked levels a while ago when hunting for oil leaks. Or am i just being paranoid and its perfectly normal for it to get warm like this? LOL

If you're referring to the tras tunnel then I find mine gets quite warm, particularly near where your knee sits. From what I can find it's quite normal, just another quirk
And if the ATF is looking more brown then red then yep, time for a change. That reminds me, mine is due for a change.

yeah it gets really hot. went to get some new oil for the trans today, needs like 9 L or something LOL. wow. so i got the hand pump thing and hopefully can afford the trans fluid next week.

9.7L is to fill from dry. You'll only manage to get 4-5L out in a standard drain/refill change. The current service schedule suggests changing the transmission oil every 20K km if the vehicle has ben subjected to: a) extended periods of driving in hot conditions above 35°C, b) driving on rough and/or muddy roads and/or wading c) towing a trailer or driving in mountainous conditions.

Otherwise fluid changes should be done at 40K km intervals.

The heater matrix sealing gasket could be leaking. Feel around on the drivers side of the console under the dash with the fan on hig. You can jam some foam strip to seal.

My shin used to get very hot when the AC was off. It seems to have stopped now though. I noticed it more when I was moving as opposed to being stopped. As Discomuppet said, chalk it up to the quirks.

is no problems if is a quirk haha just dont want to cook it when i tow, as worry if gets so warm just driving around if its going to heat up more towing. will upgrade trans cooler when can afford it but for now other than fluid change will go with quirks haha

If you are powering off the Climate Control rather than switching to economy mode (which switches the AC off but leaves the climate control electronics active) it seems to go into a mode where air flows through the heater matrix and into the vehicle.

I'm not 100% sure this actually works but...

I have a copy of the US D2 video owners manual, and there is a comment made that you need to set the temperature controls to LO before turning the climate control off to ensure you get fresh air coming into the cabin. It's not mentioned anywhere I can see in the paper owners manual.

I tried doing this once but the results weren't conclusive and I keep forgetting to try it out again

If turning to LO actually works the hot airflow isn't so much a quirk, but more of a result of the correct procedure not being documented!
