I don't know mate. As I said, I've not been tested, nor has anybody I know. As such, no-one I know has been busted either.

I am really sorry about starting this again but I don't get out much.

The bloke who is doing it next week is very good. He did a full new system on my d1 and muffler on my d2. He says the new ones are stronger, better flow, tucked up just as well out the way and WAY cheaper with no ceramic centre.

    Cheers

why not just get a 'nocat convetor' from frozen boost...

looks like a cat, but just has straight pipe in side

    I like that.

I am going to try to remove mine, but I think it will depend whether the exhaust place will do it.

How much effect does the cat have on performance anyway and does it cause more restriction as it gets older or doesn't it make any difference?

replacement catalytic converter - generic free flow

I just had new high flow cats put on as the old ones were stuffed from the old motor dying. Engine definitely has liked it, slightly better economy I think too

Plus gives a bit nicer tone to the v8.

Oh and only about 1/4 the price of the genuine LR replacements too!

You might be able to install fake cats. A guy over on discoweb still passed the tail pipe sniffer test on his 95 (that last year over here that the computer doesn't check for cats).

Good cheap cats - DiscoWeb Message Boards

I'll bet a Bosch engine would run even cleaner than his old Lucas setup.

On LPG it would be cleaner than the air in Shanghai. ..

Good to hear about the high flow cats...the fella I deal with sounded excited about high flow so presumably they do make a difference.

    Cheers
