Does your Disco Vibrate at Idle?

    Hey,

just got a diso 2 2000 and its going great except for when I stop at the lights or anywhere and have my car in drive I get an annoying rattle around the passenger side of the car. I put my hand on the plastic panels and it stops vibrating but starts again as soon as I lift off.

Is this normal behaviour and how much effort would it be to dampen all of the vibration? Have you guys got it in your car?

    Thanks,
    Lac

That was what I was wondering too. Which plastic panels on the passenger side can you put your hand on when you are stopped in traffic with the auto in drive?

Mine vibrates more in drive than neutral when I'm stopped at lights etc. I'm fairly sure this is down to a collapsed engine mount on the passenger side.

There is a whole range of things that can potentially vibrate:

    - Engine cover
    - Oil filler cover
    - Cracked plenum
    - Brake lines touching bodywork
    - Exhaust heat shield (over muffler) - get rid of the clips and replace with panel washers top and bottom and nuts if they are loose.
    - Turbo heat shield (cracked mounts)
    - Turbo hose clamps hitting the inner guard

and basically anything that hasn't been bolted down properly.

    cheers
    Paul

    Lol.
Assuming it's a Td5, if you chase vibrations you're running a looong race
Mine buzzes a fair bit at idle but both of my engine mounts are completely collapsed and have been for at least 30k kms.
Definitely more noticeable at idle though.

But if you have a V8 then everything is Smooooth with no vibrations. You really should have a V8.

Yes you get plenty of time to enjoy the smooth idle whilst once again waiting in the que for the petrol bowser.
