O-rings were pretty irrelevant for me as i had lost the entire cover. Got a new one now & fitted it with a metal strut over the front of it to ensure its held in place. Also fitted a new rocker cover gasket.
I may have another oil leak from the vacuum pump oil feed hose
, but it could be I just didn't degrease this area. I'll know tomorrow after I drive it after degreasing this. It looks a bit hard to get at, but I'm sure I'll be able to sort it out.
Thanks everyone for your help
Its nice to know I'm not alone, even if I'm having weird problems no-ones seen before

BUT the cover is into the rocker space, and if you have enough pressure to force it out then you either have a blocked crankcase ventilator or so much crankcase pressure that the ventilator is overwhelmed. I would be checking the flat thingo in the inlet manifold .
Mine at 130Kk was so loose that it was a major oil leak but it still was in place.

I've just fitted a new O ring which I sourced from CAT (part #
2N-5243) which cost $6.99. The old O ring was very hard and brittle and broke whenI tried to remove it whereas the new one is soft and flexible.
The plug fits snuggly now and should provide a decent seal.

Being EPDM it will turn to cheese soon...
A correct item: BS330 Viton
Any good bearing company will have them.
