Thumbs up Just picked up my TD5 Disco tonight....My thoughts

Well i have to say im really impressed with how the TD5 goes.Just picked it up tonight and drove it home.It has 293 000km on it but you wouldnt know.I just filled it up with a fresh tank of diesel and im looking forward to some decent fuel economy after coming from a 95 ES V8 Disco.

It drives really nice and is pretty comfortable as well.I had heard alot of stories about the TD5,some good and alot bad . So it was a bit of a gamble.I didnt really expect it to get up and go that good, so is there anyway of telling if it has been previously chipped or not.I'll be posting some pics when i can soon.
    Cheers
    Chris

Little to no turbo lag = remapped

The amount of turbo lag is a good indicator. Std has a noticeable lag, remap has very little.

Have a look at the ECU ( beside the jack and battery) it will likely have a sticker from the tuner if it has been upgraded. Eg TRS, BD, etc and some sort of "void if removed" tamper label.

I can here the screams now but..., std v8 of your old trucks era are no match for a TD5 and a well tuned TD5 makes many a bigger engine look slow.

I have a 95 Disco V8 too. Mine has done the same k's on original drive train including motor as your td5. The only mod is a scorcher ignition. Mine still goes hard and is very quiet. Its an auto but sits you back in your seat.

    Hope it goes well mate.

    Cheers

The BD ECU's have a small round white sticker on the case with some kind of reference number* written in pen on it. Otherwise no other markings or void stickers of any kind.

*Don't bother asking BD what it means - I discovered that they can't/won't tell you

You should know if it's chipped, my chipped D2 with my 1.4t camper on would pull away from a mates 3.9 V8 going up hill, used to annoy him no end and still get 14l/100ks
