    Suspension Lift + Dislocation Cones

I've spent a bit of time researching on the forums and think I'm going to go with the terrafirma shocks and springs to give my D2a a 50mm lift (unless anybody has any huge reason why that is a bad idea - the terrafirma shocks seem to get good feedback).

I have SLS on the back ( and I want to put some spacers in - is Tombie still making his, posts would suggest not) so going to put spacers there and +50mm springs up front.

Simple so far! However the pro-sport shocks only come in +3inch so it's been suggested I fit dis-location cones up front along with brake line extensions.

So my question is, is this a bad idea/going to cause me problems elsewhere and should I be fitting straps to the suspension to stop the droop or is that actually good?

To clarify, you're going to set the front up to dislocate and the back with SLS which doesn't dislocate?

My opinion is to not setup a D2 to dislocate and I don't think there is a lot of value due to the radius arms front and rear. That said, I'm not a fan of dislocation anyway.

That wasn't my original intention That's what has been suggested by the store - it seemed a little strange to me that's why I asked! This is why aulro is such a great resource, hadn't thought of it like that!

So I guess based on that feedback I'd be better off going with 2inch shocks which would mean if I stuck with Terra Firma (likely given my cost contraints) I'd have to go with the all-terrain, rather than pro-sport (as they only come in +3 inch). Or go with the pro-sport and use some kind of restraining strap?

    Some comments

Tombie was advertising lift kits on the verandah just recently. Just check that spacers are legal inWA, from an insurance pov. Airbag man sells longer airbags suitable for a lift =legal. Do an aulro search -post is about 2 to 3 years old. Iirc airbag url has since been changed.

I spoke to airbag man last month and they DON'T do longer airbags for the D2.

Jake, definately do not set up the D2 to dislocate. For a start, as Slunnie said, it is a waste of money as you won't get the movement you need from the D2 setup. I have a dislocation set up on the Rangie and it is very noisy with lots of metal on metal noise.

I would also rethink the Terrafirma option for SLS. In my opinion the rebound rate is not enough for SLS. You are likely to end up with a lot of crashing and banging when offroad from the rear. I would look at the Bilsteins or adjustable Koni's.....at least for the rear. I have my Koni's dialed up as hard as they go to work with the SLS.

As far as I know Tombie has not made spacers for a while and they were only 30mm. You can get them online from Les Richmond.

Thanks - I do have a roof tent too so will investigate the other shock options with the SLS. I don't want to do more than 50mm - 30-40mm would have been ideal but nobody seems to make them.

Yes, I thought that was the case with Tombie's spacers (although have PM'd to check) from previous posts. Will check out Les Richmond too.

Remember, you can install the 50mm spacers but then adjust the SLS sensor so that it only gives a 30-40mm lift. This would be perfectly acceptable.

I got the Koni shock for Disco with 2"lift from Paddocks and they were only $150 each delivered.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case - is that an adjustment with the sensor plates or with my nanocom?

Did you just use the Koni Heavy Track Plus 2?

I think the idea of using he 30mm spacer with a 50mm lift was to bring he spring rate up a little bit, like aftermarket lift springs.

    That was an... I think

you need to buy extended arms for the sensor on the rear chassis. You can then adjust these slightly to get the lift you require.

Yes I got the heavy track +2
