Transmission Oil for a D2a..where does it go?

    G'day All,

Been a loooooooong time since I have posted, so g'day. Ok, got home saw oil piddling out all over the ground. Had a look, took pics and sent to mates to let me know what it was. It was one of the pipe thingys and the nut was loose so tightened it up and drips stopped. Was confirmed via mates that it was the transmission oil that had leaked but appears that with the D2a it is "sealed" so can't just fill up as you would engine oil.

One option appears to be to tilt tray Smokey to my local man and get it sorted, is there any other option to fill it oneself. Please take into consideration I have no mechanical aptitude......so would need pics/ or directions if there was a way to do it, plus type of oil one would need and or tools required to do it at home. Would appreciate any help as need to get my car going again as soon as possible, ideally without the requirement of a tilt tray and fingers crossed I can get in on Monday to get it done. Thanks in advance for any help,

    Regards

    Stevo

Thanks mate for that, good to be back. Ok so what type of tool is a 8mm hex key......would you get that from supercheap as well? Also what is the trans pan? And also what type of oil would I need. On a scale of 1-10...1 being easy, 10 being super difficult, what would you rate doing this on your own? Thanks,

    Regards

Super easy Stevo. If someone doesn't put up pics, I'll jump under mine, photo and FB them to you tomorrow. Its a D1 but same ****, different toilet.

That's your sump pan... The fill plug is on the front face, facing the engine.

Print this list, any ATF on list 11A/11B is sweet: http://www.zf.com/na/content/media/u..._11_en0700.pdf

Thanks mate, between you and Justin so far....looks like I may be able to do this myself. So when filling it up as that is all I am going to do....the car is running the whole time? Or do you fill it up till it starts to spill....then start up car, go through the gears.......then top it up further?

    Regards

Stevo, great stuff posted up there by B928NW, you should easily be able to do this. That tom thumb bottle is a total godsend!

Also, don't be scared to overfill it about 500ml, it won't hurt.

There's not much freakier than looking into the hole and watching the oil flowing back down into the pan.
