    $135 for a key + $450 for a Nanocom = less than $600.

Got the eBay fob in the mail today. Despite the comments in the BCU docs saying you must use the code from inside the case, you can still use the 6 hex digits from the paper tag to program the fob as shown in this BBS video...

The CE 0165 is a compliance number that means the fob meets several EU specs for short range devices, but doesn't actually specify a frequency. I guess you'd need to sight a 315Mhz key to know if it's a distinguishing feature. 315Mhz keys were primarily for the US market, so it might be that they carry different approvals?

    cheers

Indeed its less than $600 even with getting the blade cut. I just can't add up to save my life after a glass or 2 of red

Ditto the numbers on the paper tag. I only made the connection after I had opened the key up, then looked at the video and thought hmmm some of those numbers are mighty similar.

Remotekeyfrance, charged for the key fob, programmer & shipping 164 euros, with 30 euro refund on return of the programmer, works out about $189 all up. Plus $14 to get the key cut, Bob

Well I have a 315MHz (1999 model) and it says CE0165 on mine as well. I just bought a new key recently (about $200 including postage from Brit-Car) and looked into the two frequencies. I think I remember that they changed the frequency from 315MHz to 433MHz in late 1999. The D2 was released in 1999 so there won't be many with 315MHz.

I took my key into a local locksmith and he could scan the frequency, which was fluctuating around 300 MHz.

Makes sense, when I `e-mailed the key number to the remote key mob, I also gave them the VIN no. they must have determined the frequency thru that. Mine is definitely 433MHz. , 2000 model, Bob

Any half decent locksmith should have a frequency finder which can tell you the frequency of the key.

For example, Millennium Locksmiths in Brisbane (Woolloongabba) have such a device.

    Sorry for the late response.

I ordered one from here and programmed using my nanocom over the weekend. It was cheap and all worked out fine.

The case and key were in poor condition but I just needed the internal board to transplant into my spare key/case.
