So based on that if you do alot of towing and keeping the engine temp down is a priority get the Sahara.

For me I will be getting a Deluxe bar, in ARB black for my silver D2a. Cost is a big reason, but why the Sahara looks good I'd rather spend less $$ and get better protection.

As for colour matching, while it looks good when undamaged scrapes will show, especially on a silver bar. Where as in black it will not be as noticeable.
What do you mean by split Pan type?

Why is the Sahara better for cooling? They both look the same to me regarding opening in front of the grill area.

Cost. I have only priced the deluxe bar. I would have assumed that the sahara would have been cheaper, as there is much less steel, and I would have thought less labour.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

If Anything I'd think the Sahara blocks more than the standard bars, although that's where the split pan comes into it.
Split pan (from what I know) refers to the gap, or split, in the front centre section, sort of where your number plate goes.
    I found a 2010 post that priced a Sahara bar at $1728.
$200 fitted and $250 colour coded. So a bit upwards of $2k.
Deluxe winch bar is what...$1400ish? from memory when I was looking at them.

The split pan is the slot in the bar between the chassis legs right where the number plate is in the ARB link you posted. Where the Deluxe bar it is solid, so less air flow to the rad.

You would think the Sahara would be cheaper, less metal, but is about $200 more than the Deluxe bar.

I was quoted $1800 for the Deluxe with $200 for fitting & $200 colour coding. Fitting and colour coding was the same for both bars.

When you do get your bullbar, give me a call and I can give you a hand to install it.

    XROX for me.

It's a fairly straight forward install too...

I do like the Sahara bars too though.

Decision finally made. Yesterday I ordered the full bar color coded.

    Good choice
Getting it fitted or doing it yourself?
It's an easy job, it helped that my plastic bumper was shredded so I just hooked it off...
You'll need longer than standard bolts if you want to add recovery eyelets or retain the wombat bar, I've also got some 12mm bolts waiting to go in (thicker than standard) to try and stop the rotation it gets, just haven't been bothered to do it yet.
Don't forget about the vertical bolts, and it wouldn't hurt to remind ARB if you're getting it fitted.
Oh, and you know the rules, pics

I will be fitting it my self. I am a retired spanner, so a bull bar is a piece of cake.

Having spent most of my working life in the car game, I have seen too much of what goes on. Apart from the money saved, I trust no one with my vehicle.

Pics will come, but I won't see the bar until some time in October.

I am glad that you reminded me about the bolts. Probably a good time to fit some recovery points. not that Landies need them.

A great bar had one on the D2 since 04, changing the headlight globes is a challenge to get used to though.

I'll disagree (Partially) with Disco Muppet about getting longer bolts

I got & fitted my bar a couple weeks ago, and using the supplied bolts (M10 x 130mm driver side & 7/16" x 4 1/2" passenger side) refitting the wombat & tow eye there is about 20mm extra on the passenger side & 10mm on the drivers side, see photos. So unless you keep the wombat bar AND fit recovery points thicker than 10mm you should be ok.

One thing I will recommend getting is a 180mm long 10mm dia drill bit, I only had a 'standard' lenght (130mm) bit and it was only just long enough, only had about 5-10mm in the chuck for it to go through

Oh don't forget to get some 10watt or LED globes for the indicators, it will stop the trailer light on the dash flashing, without a trailer attached
