Replaced mine with the upgraded part. The mechanic said he ended up removing the car from the hose--------:p
Starting to feel glad I got all my hoses and fittings replaced at 212k
I did the inlet hose 120kms from Alice Springs along the plenty highway. Was my sons 10th birthday and the 4th day of a 3 month trip to the top end and Kimberly. It was a Thursday, and Sutton motors were able to replace both pipes and we were on our way Tuesday.
Plot thickens, because 2 weeks later after towing to Darwin via devils marbles, Douglas springs and Lichfield, the new part failed yet again. That is a rubbish connection with a well known dodgy clamp. It is not even a barbed pipe. I had a new pipe once again sent to Darwin, with no warranty from land rover as my car was not towed to Darwin land rover (and the nearest date they could have assessed it was 2 weeks later). I decided in the meantime to take the hose to Pirtek, who were well aware of the dodgy part and they took less than 24 hours to remanufacture the connection between the rubber and metal pipe.
The attached photo has top part Pirtek and bottom did land rover genuine part.
I would recommend that people have a repair carried out by Pirtek, rather than replace with genuine parts
We have been stranded now for 10 days in the first month of our trip by inferior part quality. Not happy Land Rover.
Cheers
Paul.

I went for genuine parts also and hope I don't get another failure like you. TRS claim the Pirtek type hose is stiffer and cracks the oil cooler fitting. Would have much prefered the better fitting, but could not find any info on this forum to back the claim either way. Cannot see why hydraulic standard clamps and some quality hose would not do the job anyway?. Best of luck with the rest of your trip.
Are you still in Darwin?

Hi Harry.
I also have a spare genuine land rover part as well. Pirtek just replaced the swage clamp end in my cooler line, but the rubber hose and push on end at the cooler is still the genuine part. The bloke at Pirtek suggested getting a screw on part welded to the trans cooler when I'm back in Adelaide, for a strong connection that end as well. Will see how we make it through the next 2 months in the Kimberly and. West coast. We are a little spooked at the thought of a break down on the Gibb River Rd and the cost of recovery.
We managed to leave Darwin 5 days after planned (10 days in Darwin in all). Was a nice place but nice to move on. We made it to Jabiru after a 3 hour nervous drive. I guess each day will get less nervous after 2 breakdowns.
Cheers
Paul.
The down side to a complete rubber line from Pirtek,
apparently there is "baffling" in the original to cut down noise.
anyone care to cut there broken hose and see?
Pedro
Would have glady cut up my old one before it went in the bin just to see whats in it before paul contributed that previous double failure post. Now I reckon both old hoses will be paying a visit to Pirtek for proper fittings. (Thats if we get home without blowing another) Have been tempted to buy some clamps and hose here as an emergency measure.
Appears the left hand side is the the one that gives most trouble and I did wonder if worn Engine mounts contribute to the failure?. The join is side on to any motor torque movement and therefore gets a workout, especially when towing, or being worked hard. Blknight should have a theory on that!!!!. Do have a pressure pipe cleaner at home that fires a pellet through a line. Will try it and let the forum know, if, and when we get home about 4th Sept.
Weather is a bit conducive to stay here until the humidity sets in!!!!

Anyone can tell me the part number for this pipe. I am having the same problem. Thanks.
it should be on a late model microcat?
The OEM hose is just that. Hose.
I replace the cooler and pipe fittings with JIC screw on's when last apart (at the panel beaters). Use push connect fittings, the crimps are nice but not field serviceable if something does happen. The push on fittings (and correct hose with a soft liner) can be hand assembled and you will never pull one off and never seen one fail by blowing off. Basically there's 2 or 3 deep barbs on the fitting tail, the soft liner of the hose bites on these and that's it. Blow or damage a hose, cut off, push on.
