Just wondering since you mentioned the daleck thing, ive placed a compass over the top of that, and my aircon isnt cold. Always thought it needed a regas and was gonna do that next.

    Could this be the problem?

Sunlight sensors usually just tell the auto a/c systems to behave differently. Blow harder, or run a couple of degrees colder than the set number, something like that. If you cannot get it to blow cold even by turning the temperature controls down more, you've got something else going on.

As jafir says. The degree of tint just alters its behavior . the compass would just act like darker tint by shading it. In addition to a regas check your blend motors and doors are working correctly. There is a post on here about adjusting them.
    Cheers Scott

Get a genuine one. I had mine replaced with an aftermarket one and the car got very noticibly hotter when parked for a length of time and it was also very hot when the sun was comming through whilst driving. The aftermarket screen then leaked due to a dodgy install and I hassled them about putting a genuine one in.

It took me a couple of days on the phone trying to convince insurance company that the aftermarket one was inferior ( my policy states that aftermarket can be used if it meets the specs). Ended up getting a service manager from
Austral Land Rover in Brissy to talk to insurance and send them pics of a genuine screen from another D2 that was in their yard.

It's was worth it. The car stays so much cooler now. And best thing is now I have a precedent should it happen again.

x 3 on waiting for a Genuine Optikool screen.

You'll be able to tell if the crack has penetrated through both layers of glass by lightly dragging your fingernail across the crack. If you can't feel it then the crack is probably on the other side....

I had dramas with an aftermarket screen a while back. It leaked, although I put that down to the dodgy install. I don't know enough about the original windscreens in these vehicles to know whether the curvature of the aftermarket ones varies that greatly that it can cause leaks. I do know that the installers that put in my current one (different mob to the ones that did the first two) told me that the D2 is particularly tricky as there needs to be a double bead of sealant run around the mounting area - and most installers only put one).

If you don't follow through on the genuine screen what I can suggest is that you try and see if the installers can show you pictures/examples of the options available - I found that one of the brands that was put into mine had a very dark band at the top and the other didn't. If you are tall it is not enjoyable having the bottom of the band intrude on your line of vision. I was conscious of tilting my head forward to try and see under it. I made sure that the one they finally put in had a lighter band.

Thanks bell1975, Ive asked if I can take a look whilst the screen is done, as long as im not in the way. I want to check to see if there is any rust around the screen as the hood lining was replaced, and I had a few drops of water come in, if it rained for days. I fixed that by pumping sika in the holes that connect the pillar trim to the guttering.

The guy seems to be very knowledgable in LRs, he's a pom, and so far everything about fitting windscreens ive been reading on here, he has stated (apart from the confusion about the different prices in screens, I still dont get that). I feel bad hassling him. I guess if its wrong, it has a life warranty, and they can replace with the Optikool one. I trust RACQ as its a car club that is well respected, not bagging other insurers out.

Thanks schuy1/Scott, youve taught me another word (had to google blend motors). The amount of new words I have from this forum is incredible! I hope other stuff dosnt start falling out me noggin cause its too full ;-) Glad I dont own an RR, the blend motors dont seem to user friendly.

I shot a temp gun on all aircon outlets just then, and they all register 24 point something. Need aircon gas..

Screens in. Is a non genuine. Im finding it hard to get used to it today as it feels like driving without one.

Found a bit of rust inside top lip. I'll need to get that looked at.

Am gonna take it for a drive to a few dealers here that have discos for sale and compare looks, if they have originals.

If I find a substantial difference, they can pull it out and give me a proper one...

The black tint up the top of the screen is almost non existant, but it seems to work? Very sunny here today, and good to compare with my old one.

    Cheers,
    Mik
