They're both relays, given that one is a Narva one I'd be guessing it had spot lights fitted at some point.
Can't help you on the rad hose, but to my way of thinking it's screwed.
Hi All,
Some more new to D2's questions.
I have just got my car back from the mechanics where they checked and loctited the oil pump bolt (MY 2000 w/ 215k - bolt already loctited - removed and loctited again). While I was looking around I noticed two things;
1. The top radiator hose had green coolant seeping (but not dripping - it seemed rather viscous to touch) from the reinforcing ribbing material where it attaches to the radiator. The hose itself felt supple and springy (although I am no expert!).
My Engine Saver TM2 Combo should arrive by Wednesday, nonetheless;
*Should I be worried?
*Should I not drive it?
*Does this suggest that the hose is de-laminating?
2. I also found two obviously aftermarket electric box things (relays?) near each of the headlights. The car has a dual battery system if that helps to identify them. Also, there are no spotlights fitted.
So, I was just wondering if anyone has any idea what they do?
Cheers,
Mark

The hose looks quite new, judging by the clamp, a td5 it should have OAT coolant, which is usually pink, so you may have to flush the green stuff out and change to OAT.
Sometimes the hoses are either pushed on too much or not enough. There's often a raised triangle marker where they get lined up in the factory, if the hose rides up on this the seal isn't as good as it could be, worth just moving it backwards or forwards to seeif that fixes it.
You can get Green OAT AFAIK, JustinC uses the green coolant in them so it can't be that big a deal, as long as it's not got a mixture in there.
Have a look at how the hose is leaking though, it's not like it's leaking from the gap between the hose and the pipe, it looks like it's leaking from the centre of the hose itself.
I can vaguely remember Blknight.aus mentioning something about hoses doing this when they start to get on a bit, I'll see if I can dig it up.
Happy to be corrected, it just appears that way from the photos.
The head, turbo, radiator, viscous fan and ancillaries was replaced about 6 months ago (before I owned the car). As such, I would've expected that the hoses would have been done at the time, although the invoice did not list hoses, so maybe not.
I agree DM, the coolant appears to be leaking from the reinforcing, not the seal between the hose and the rad outlet. Thanks for looking for that post - I have not had much luck searching for something relevant.
In regards to the coolant (normal vs OAT) I have asked the mechanic where the above mentioned repairs were done - hopefully he will be able to give the brand and type of coolant used.
Cheers,
Mark
The hose should be replaced, though it will unlikely burst in the immediate future.
Unfortunately many of the top hoses are flawed from the factory/manufacturer. They weep via capillary action along the reinforcement material.
My local LR acknowledge this and have replaced 2 hoses for our different vehicles free. There doesn't seem to be a batch number or date range of hose manufacture to indicate which ones will or wont weep. Your only real option is to present the photo or vehicle to the supplier/repairer and ask for it to be replaced.
As others have said your vehicle once had extra lights.
