    New Gators fitted

Just a FYI more than anything. If you buy the Gators for your gear stick and hand brake leavers from eBay for cheap. You only get the leather part, not the plastic surround for the gear stick and the spring wire peice for the hand brake.

You need to pull the old leather gator from the plastic and wire then glue the new ones on.

Mine turned out sweet. It's dark now, I'll take some photos of them fitted in the morning.

    Happy Days

Smell of the leather huh? That line could lead to some personal insights of DM that we may be as well not to explore upon these pages.

not having a go at you -

just amused by the imaginary picture of having "new crocodilians "fitted" " ....

come to think of it, crocodilians could be a good brand name for gaiters couldn't it ?

Yes its a very cost effective interior upgrade and should be the first thing on any new D2 owners to do list.

You can also do the steering wheel and the centre console lid with leather as well.

A hint though. If you use contact cement, coat both surfaces, let them tack dry and then you will get instant adhesion when you press them together. Makes the clothes pegs and paddle pop sticks to hold them together unnecessary.

    Cheers

leather gaiters? Well no I havent, but being an auto it would be sparse, only the handbrake and a miniscule Hi/Lo lever! And havent got to doing a lot of "bling" yet, got an auto box to replace........ A timing belt/engine mts/ suspension bush renewal to do on the Deefer, a head gasket and welsh plug on the 2a LWB , CRIKEY! Im gonna stop now making meself depressed :/ So no not any time for the gaiters at the moment.
    Cheers Scott

PS Still a little sus on the leather thing.................hehehehe
