Yep, very lucky I caught it in time as I reckon there's probably 10km left in it, if that.
Mrs HH, Xtreme is bringing up a spare shaft for me to Glenreagh so I should be fine
Definitely a positive outcome considering the alternative.

If you want to borrow mine I'm ok for you to remove it enroute and fit to yours to do the trip, our man roving mechanical replaces for a good price and he has them on the shelf.

Thanks Liam but I'm only heading through Sydney on the way back.
    Appreciate the offer though

It's a good idea to fit the grease nipples in the new unit, make it part of your service routine, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Quite right, if it's worth doing it's worth doing it correctly the first time.

I fitted the UJs with grease nipples and a new Center Bearing from Rockwell in the USA.
The problem I have is that the Center Bearing does not have a grease path is there a solution.
I did see a protection bracket for the auto once as per truck drive shaft catches but I have not seen it since

On harvesters I used to use an angle grinder on the outer casing so the grease could get from the (side mounted) grease nipple to the (centred) grease hole in the casing

    Maybe not on a D2?
