V8 oil pump / pressure
Hi, I have recently had problems with my oil pressure when I'm putting it under load, for instance low range driving up slopes which are quite difficult.
I can drive the car normally all day long with no problem, but as soon as it gets difficult the oil pressure light comes on.
All the basic stuff done, new oil / filter, and switch, still happens.
I think it could be a cracked oil pump gear going by some threads here, but can not find out how difficult and how long it takes to do. If anyone has had it done how does it cost, and any places in perth?
Any info would be good, or if any one has other thoughts.

The Thor engine oil pump is a concentric rotor type that is an integral part of the front timing cover, so if the pump is screwed, the whole assembly has to be replaced, although new rotor sets are listed on ebay.co.uk.
But, it is worth looking at the pressure relief valve first to see if there is anything holding the plunger off the seating.
There is also an O-ring where the suction pipe from the strainer goes into the front cover, that hardens with time.
Hope that helps.
Front cover assy is about £UK 250 or so, but there are a few cheaper:
